What to Expect

Are you ready to experience the best of Hawaii's Big Island?

On this one day ground and air tour, you'll experience, well, nearly everything - and then some!

With complimentary pickups from your Waikiki accommodation and return flights from Oahu, this tour extends through and over one of the most geologically active and diverse environments on earth.

See Hawaii's most active volcano which has been continuously erupting since 1983 with an emphasis on the most current areas of volcanic activity. View lava flows, tropical rain forests and cascading waterfalls while learning about the history and culture of Hawaii during this 45 to 50 minute scenic flight component of the tour.

Back on the ground, the fun continues. At Richardson Black Sand Beach, you'll get the chance to experience the only beach in the Hilo area with black sand, before taking part in the Historic Banyan Drive where the Banyan trees bear the names of famous people who planted them, including President Theodore Roosevelt, Babe Ruthand Richard Nixon to name a few.

Journey through the Liliuokalani Gardens, which lies southeast of downtown Hilo and Rainbow Falls, where you'll see some of most beautiful waterfalls on the Big Island.

Moving on, the tour will take you to Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Factory for a nut tasting. A stop at the visitors center also gives you the opportunity for a self-guided tour of the processing plant and the large gift shop - with free samples of every flavor variation sold by the company.

Known as the orchid capital of the world, a trip to Hilo wouldn't be complete without a stop at the Akatsuka Orchid Nursery, with the gardens home to over 200 different types of orchids.

A ticket on this tour also includes admission to Volcanoes National Park. Established in 1916, this park encompasses two active volcanoes: Kīlauea, one of the world’s most active volcanoes and Mauna Loa.

While here you'll also get to see the Thurston Lava Tube, which offers amazing 20 minute walk through the lush jungles and the lava tube, as well as the volcanic steam vents, where ground water seeps down to the hot volcanic rocks and returns to the surface as steam. While standing at the steam vents, take a good look around. The area between the caldera’s edge and outer cliffs of Kīlauea Caldera is a treeless plain and provides a great photo opportunity.

A stop at the Thomas A. Jaggar Museum includes the observatory, which has a worldwide reputation as a leader in the study of active volcanism which is located at the site, and is the perfect place to wrap up the tour before heading back on your flight to Oahu.
