Why do we love this

We love that this trip takes to past Ellery Creek Big Hole and Ormiston Gorge. They're places off the typical 'Red Centre trail' that really are worth a visit. There's some great hikes and spotting Perentie Lizards is always fun!

Day 1: Alice Springs to Uluru (lunch, dinner)
Clients joining at Ayers Rock airport or resort will do so after lunch and therefore is not included. Please ensure you have had lunch prior to your collection.

Your day starts bright and early, with pick up from your accommodation in Alice Springs at 6.00 am. Hit the road for the adventure of a lifetime.

For those commencing the tour at Uluru, you'll be collected from the Outback Pioneer Hotel at around 2.00 pm. If you're arriving on a flight into Uluru before 2.00 pm, pick up from the airport is available.

Once all travellers are aboard, the real adventure begins. Head south to Erldunda travelling through the Waterhouse and James Ranges. Make a stop at the Camel Farm for refreshments and a Camel ride along the way. (please note camel rides are at your own expense)

Stop at Mount Ebenezer Roadhouse where you can view or purchase Aboriginal artifacts. Then, on the way to Uluru, take a break to catch stunning views of stop to view Atila (Mount Connor). Like a mini Uluru, this is the first significant rock formation of the trip.

Later, after a stop for lunch, you'll arrive at the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Travel to the base of Uluru where your guide will lead you on an interpretive walk. You'll learn about the Aboriginal law and religion (Tjukurpa).

You'll continue to learn about the area, as later you meet with your local Aboriginal Guide who will provide a once in a lifetime Indigenous cultural experience. They'll share stories with you and teach you about the traditional methods of painting that play an important part in the sustainability of Aboriginal culture. Start the experience with a walk to the cave paintings near Mutitjulu Waterhole, at the base of Uluru.  Hear stories of this unique landscape and discover the connection between the art, culture and the land. Your tour finishes at the Cultural Centre, where you can explore the displays and learn about the flora and fauna of this unique area.

As evening falls, it's time for a special sunset viewing over Uluru. Experience the famous changing colours of Uluru at sunset, complete with sparkling wine and nibbles. It's a great time to kick back and contemplate the day.

After being wowed by the light show, head to your remote private camp.  Enjoy an Endless Star dining experience before retiring to your swag under the amazing night sky. You can also upgrade to a or your comfortable safari tent complete with beds.

If you can't get enough of Uluru, you can choose to view the Fields of Light art installation after dinner tonight. This is an optional and additional expense. For those interested, you'll be collected from a location close to your campsite and transferred to the Field of Light. Enjoy a walk through this incredible light display before being transferred back to the campsite.

Day 2: Uluru to Kings Creek Station (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
Rise early to watch the sunrise over Uluru and Kata Tjuta. From a lookout close to the campsite, you'll catch some amazing views, and avoid the crowds at the public viewing area!

Afterwards, depart for Kata Tjuta where you'll embark on a hike through the 'Valley of the Winds'. Wander through the many domes and discover the cultural significance this area holds to the Aboriginal people.

After working up an appetite, enjoy a tasty lunch. With your belly's full, head to Kings Creek Station, your private campsite for the night. Miles from the crowds, this is where the feeling of ‘way out back’ starts to take hold.

After a campfire dinner, kick back and be mesmerised by the millions of stars on display.

Day 3: Kings Creek Station to Glen Helen (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
Wake up to another desert sunrise this morning, before embarking on a guided walk to see the towering walls, crevices and plateaus of Watarrka (Kings Canyon). Visit the Amphitheatre, Lost City and the tranquil ‘Garden of Eden’.

After Watarrka, 4WD along the famous Mereenie Loop Road, looking out for wildlife along the way. It's 93km of off-road fun!

Your campsite tonight is at Glen Helen, close to a stunning waterhole that the traditional owners of this land believe is home to an ancient and powerful Rainbow Serpent.

It's another night under the desert stars with your new friends tonight.

Day 4: Glen Helen to Alice Springs (breakfast, lunch)
Spend today exploring the mighty West MacDonnell Ranges. Travel to Ormiston Gorge first, making sure to keep your eyes peeled for Perentie lizards along the way! You'll spot these guys lazing along the banks at the gorge too.

Once you arrive, take a swim in the rock holes to cool off before heading off on the 'Ghost Gum Walk'. This is 1.5-hour loop that takes in views down through the majestic Ormiston Gorge, before descending along the rocky floor and past Ormiston Waterhole.

Next, journey on to the Ochre Pits, a registered sacred site. This spot offers the experience to view the Ochre deposit that is still used to this day by the Traditional owners of the area. You'll be able to see the natural ochres that have provided materials for Indigenous people for thousands of years.

Afterwards, travel on to Ellery Creek Big Hole, one of the most picturesque swimming and walking spots in the West MacDonnell Ranges. Surrounded by high red cliffs and the sandy Ellery Creek, the waterhole has been carved out by thousands of years of massive floods. It's an internationally significant geological site and the permanent water here makes it a special meeting place for the Arrernte people. It's known to them as Udepata.

Later in the afternoon, it's time to leave the water behind as you start the journey back to Alice Springs. You'll arrive at approximately 5.30pm. After a hot shower, join your fellow travellers for a farewell meal, some laughs and a few cold beers.

This is a 4-day tour starting and finishing in Alice Springs. You can also start the tour in Uluru

No. All you need to bring is a water bottle. We recommend a minimum 1.5 litre bottle. We will be carrying large containers of chilled water that you can fill at the commencement and conclusion of all walks. Most walks have water replenishing facilities. For those warmer locations and walks (Kakadu/Central Australia) we recommend that an additional 1 litre of water is carried, particularly during our warmer months.

Our tours are active adventures that include a fair amount of walking, hiking and water based activities. Walks can extend to 4 hours duration in warm to hot conditions, so a reasonable level of fitness is required, We don't expressly set any age restrictions. Our tours are a mix of true outback adventure camping to soft camping. Less demanding treks/walks are available at most locations for those less active. Regardless, good health is important but ultimately, it is an open and positive attitude that matters. It is very important that any pre-existing medical conditions are discussed with our staff at time of booking.

We have Gluten free foods on our Safaris with most being naturally gluten free such as rice, rice cakes, etc. We provide gluten free pasta. We do not provide specialist items such as Gluten Free muesli and bread. Generally speaking foods that naturally have gluten we do not provide a gluten free option of (ie bread). We have lots of fresh vegetables and fruit with meat dishes cooked separately to vegetable dishes to cater for those that choose not to eat meat. Also, with anyone who is Lactose Intolerant, we do not provide any milk substitutes. So, if you prefer to carry any, that’s not a  problem, we can store it for you.

If you want a specific food item we ask that you provide this yourself no matter your dietary requirement.

We find many people with allergies, particularly nut allergies. It is important for guests to know that whilst we will not purposely give them a food with their allergen in it, it is their responsibility to check the label if they are concerned. We do allow guests to provide their own snacks and we cannot control what other guests choose to bring themselves, therefore if someone has a nut allergy for example, we cannot guarantee that people on the vehicle will be not eating nuts and it is their responsibility to look after their health needs. Generally on our trips the only food source that will have nuts is Muesli bars. All allergies, no matter how small must be disclosed and noted prior to departure.
