What to Expect
This tour is the perfect choice if you are eager to sample the finest of Tasmania’s spirits, wine and other delicious craft beverages. You'll visit 5 of southern Tasmania’s best craft beverage experiences in the Huon and CoalRiver Valleys, plus a number of special stop-ins along the way. Sip on award-winning wines, stroll through idyllic vineyards and orchards, and sample the very best local spirits.
You'll get to go behind the scenes with access to some of Tasmania’s most renowned distilleries, vineyards and breweries. Every stop gives you the chance to enjoy a variety of tastings, meet passionate locals in the industry, and relax with your fellow passengers.
The morning starts at 10:00 am at Brooke Street Pier with a hot cup of tea or coffee. Get a run-down of the day, meet your guide and fellow travellers, and hear a little history of Tasmanian craft beverage production.
Then, departing Hobart, the first stop is Home Hill Winery in the Huon Valley. Established in 1992, the family-owned winery produces cool-climate wines thanks to conditions similar to that of the Bordeaux region in France. Try the top-quality Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sylvaner, and Cuvee.
Sticking to the Huon Valley, the next stop is Pagan Cider, which makes use of Tasmania's famous apples to produce a range of craft ciders. They use earth-friendly farming practices and mix seasonal fruits such as cherries and quinces to create balanced ciders with sparkling clarity. Plus, there's no added sugar – just the sweetness of the fruit.
If that's not enough cider, Willie Smith’s Apple Shed is up next. The orchard was established in 1888 and, four generations later, is still a family business. Again, you'll get to sample some of the organic ciders, which are made onsite for the freshest tree to bottle results. This is also where you'll have time to purchase lunch, with a range of seasonal dishes available.
After lunch, it's off to Hobart Brewing Company for a refreshing beer and tour of their brewery. The lineup of brews includes a variety of core styles including the Harbour Master Ale, a Cream Ale, a Pale Ale, the Standard and an Extra Pale Ale plus seasonal limited releases.
The day's final stop will Spring Bay Distillery. Here the pristine rain waters allow the team to create exceptional single malt whisky using premium Tasmanian barley. If whisky isn't your preferred tipple. they also make gin and vodka.
While this is the regular itinerary, destinations may occasionally change due to industry operations and availability. However, any altered venues will showcase just as delicious and high-quality beverages. These might include Frank's Cider, Lark Cellar Door, or Charles Reuben Estate.
