No, you don&#39;t. These kayaks are very easy to use for all skill levels. You also get a basic tutorial before you get out on the water.

However, you will need to have a moderate level of fitness for your own personal comfort and enjoyment.

These kayak tours are held in calm waters and you are provided with a Personal Floatation Device (life jacket) so there is no requirement to be able to swim.

If weather conditions are adverse and The Supplier needs to reschedule your tour, they will work with you to arrange a new date that suits. The Supplier takes rain, wind, temperature, lake levels and river flow into consideration before making any decision to postpone.

Depending on the start time of the tour, we would recommend having something to eat prior to your tour (especially in summer), as it can be late when you finish and your options in our area are very limited.

Starting late afternoon or early evening, bask in spectacular sights you can only experience by kayak. Enjoy a leisurely 4-hour kayak adventure through the Pokaiwhenua&nbsp;Canyon and, when darkness falls, be guided by the magical titiwai&nbsp;-&nbsp;New Zealand glow worms - on either side of you!

Join your experienced guide as you start your paddle along the southern edge of Lake Karapiro, over the old submerged Horahora Dam that produced electricity for the early Waihi goldfields.&nbsp;Learn the history of the Horahora village and enjoy the twilight and&nbsp;peaceful silence of being on the water as the day gives way to night.

As night arrives over the lake, paddle slowly up the Pokaiwhenua Stream and through the canyon carved out by water over many hundreds of years. Native ferns &amp; trees drape over you, and you will be surrounded by birdlife all around.

When darkness falls, you will float silently back downstream, being guided by the glow worms on either side. It is a truly magical sight that you won&#39;t soon forget.&nbsp;

Cancellations within the 7 days of the hire/tour will be refunded 80% of payment made and 20% will be kept as credit towards next adventure within 6 months.&nbsp; 
No refund within 24 hours of hire/tour.&nbsp;

COVID-19 Refund Policy 
If you have made a booking with The Operator and your travel plans are affected by enforced COVID-19 restrictions, we will move your booking to another date, transfer the value of your booking to a Gift Voucher valid for 12 months. or provide a 100% refund on your booking. 
Bike Ts &amp; Cs 
Hire charge continues until equipment returned to RAW (The Operator) base and no refund for early return. 
On booking Hirer agrees to the following terms and conditions: 
1. Hirer warrants that all members of the party are suitably fit and experienced to use the equipment hired and RAW shall not accept any responsibility in the event that the hirer and or any member of the hire party is unable to use the equipment for the full hire period. 
2. If hirer requires shuttle pick up due to not completing their hire, there will be an additional charge. 
3. Hirer responsible for the safe return of all equipment specified above undamaged and in the same good condition as upon commencement of hire. 
4. Hirer responsible for ensuring that all members of the hire party use the equipment properly and safely and in compliance with good safe practice and the laws of New Zealand including use of safety equipment. 
4a. Hirer agrees to always wear the provided bike helmet when riding (provided by RAW). 
4b. Hirer agrees to always wear closed toe footwear. 
4c. Hirer agrees to follow New Zealand road driving rules. 
5. Children under 15 years to be accompanied by an adult at all times. 
6. Hire will be refused or revoked at any time in the event that RAW determines at its sole discretion that the Hirer or any member of the hire party is under the influence of drink or drugs. (In that event no refund will be given). 
7. Any damage, loss or injury to property/equipment/person not covered by New Zealand Accident Compensation or RAW insurance shall be the personal responsibility of the hirer for the whole of the hire party. &nbsp;In the event of late return, damage or loss to equipment hired the Hirer authorises RAW to charge the cost of additional hire charges and/or remedying loss or damage of equipment to the Hirer&rsquo;s nominated credit card. 
8. At our sole discretion, RAW will endeavour to accommodate delays or changes to the period of hire and/or tour due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, however, RAW is under no obligation to do so. 
The Hirer is personally responsible for the safe and undamaged return of all equipment hired.
