What to Expect
What’s the most fun way to explore a new city? Jumping on a bike, of course!
Come with us as we dive deep into the cultural treasure chest that is Bangkok. We’ll start in the vibrant Chinatown and slowly make our way across the Chao Praya River to the famous Thonburi District. On the way, we’ll see classic examples of Thai temples and traditional culture. If we have time, we might even visit a few of them. Your guide will tell you the history behind each place, and you’ll soon realize why Bangkok is such a fascinating city.
And don’t worry – you don’t need to be a Tour de France champion to enjoy our bike tour. It’s suitable for all ages, and we promise we’ll make plenty of refreshment stops. The route will be quite easy, and you’re guaranteed a 700+ calorie loss. Burning off all that delicious pad thai has never been more fun!
Explore Bangkok’s Chinatown
This awesome bike adventure starts in our headquarters. Here, you’ll meet the rest of your lovely tour group and, of course, your bike. It’ll be either a city or mountain bike, and we’ll make sure it’s got some decent tires on it. We’ll take care of all the practical things so all you need to worry about is having an amazing time!
We’ll bike through Bangkok’s rich Muslim community to reach the Old Customs House which is situated right on the river. Back in the day, this was the first stop for travelers arriving in Bangkok, so you can only imagine how many people have passed through those doors.
We’ll then get lost in the small alleys that make up the city’s vibrant Chinatown. It’s a very culturally diverse neighborhood, and your guide will make sure you don’t miss out on any of the fun. There’s a maximum of 6 people per tour group, so you’ll have plenty of time to ask your guide about the things we see on the way.
Cross the river to the Thonburi District
When we’re ready to leave Chinatown, we’ll head towards the mother of all rivers, the mighty Chao Praya River. Enjoy the cool breeze down by the water as we pass the wonderful flower and vegetable markets. The colors and smells here are just fantastic, and you’ll definitely want to have your camera handy.
We’ll then catch a short ferry across the river to the historic Thonburi District. The first stop on this side of the city is one of Bangkok’s most beautiful temples, the Wat Arun. In Thai, this name means “Temple of Dawn”, and it is built in honor of the Hindu god Aruna. The architecture is so stunning that this is, in fact, one of the most famous temples in all of Thailand. It’s simply a sight you’ll never forget!
Next up is the amazing Princess Mother Memorial Park. This lovely place is full of beautiful flower gardens and interesting exhibitions about the royal family. The Thais love their king deeply, so this is a very important part of the local culture. Take a stroll and go exploring!
As the cherry on top, we’ll also pass by Wat Kalayanamitr and Wat Prayoon (this temple even has a turtle pond!).
Have a drink after the tour
After all this two-wheeled fun, we then head back to our headquarters. We love when our guests hang around after the tour, so we’ll bring out some free soft drinks or water. If you feel like something a little stronger, we also sell refreshing cold beers – it’s up to you!
A safe and fun bike tour
All you need to be able to go on our bike tour is a big smile and to be confident on a bicycle. Oh, and knowing how to ring a bike bell is handy, too – you’ll need it!
At Go Bangkok Tours, we take your safety very seriously. That’s why we provide you with all the necessary insurance before you go on our awesome bike tour. This includes personal accident insurance, accidental medical expenses insurance, and personal liability insurance.
Children can come on the tour for free as long as they are carried in a baby seat by an adult (the guide will not carry a child on his bike). Children should be min. 140 cm (4.6”) tall on average to get their own bike.
