Day 1 – Hanoi
Your trip begins with a welcome dinner at one of the crew's favourite restaurants in Hanoi. Meet your group and share a few drinks with your new travel mates.
Then, get ready to party, Hanoi-style! Grab a stool and join the crowd for some locally brewed beer. Mingle and dance with locals and other travellers in the laneways of Hanoi.
Day 2 – Hanoi
One thing Vietnam is famous for is the diverse range of exotic food. Today, your local guide will take you on a tour to some hidden places where you can sample tasty, interesting food and local delicacies while getting to know the city.
Day 3 – Halong Bay
Take a cruise through the stunning and unique landscapes of Halong Bay and Lan Ha Bay. Enjoy the magical scenery as you cruise and kayak through crystal clear waters past hundreds of limestone cliffs.
Tonight, you'll stay in cosy cabins on the junk boat anchored in a secluded cove within Halong Bay.
Day 4 – Private Island
Wake up and take a morning swim before heading to a private beach paradise, with the place all to yourself. Check in, grab lunch and relax. Hammocks, kayaks, beach volleyball – it's all here! Enjoy a night in this beautiful spot. It doesn't get more idyllic than this!
The next day, you'll cruise back to Hanoi for another awesome night on the town.
Day 5 – Hanoi
Spend another day in Hanoi, exploring the capital city. You'll see an incredible traditional Water Puppet show, where talented puppeteers put on a spectacular show accompanied by music. It's a unique and must-do experience.
Day 6 – Hoi An
To maximise your time in Vietnam, the tour includes a flight from Hanoi to Hoi An. Explore this beautiful town where life is amazingly laid-back with a city centre perfect for relaxing, eating and shopping and a stunning beach a short bike ride away.
Hoi An is known as the City of Lanterns, with colourful lanterns hanging from trees, buildings and shops all around town. At night, they light up the streets and your guide will take you on a walk through town and show you their favourite bars.
Day 7-8 – Hoi An
It's your turn to play chef! Today your guide will take you to the local markets to pick up all the ingredients you'll need to make a tasty meal. Then, learn to cook the most delicious Vietnamese dishes in a private cooking class and leave with recipes you can try for your friends at home!
After two days in Hoi An, the next stop is Ninh Van Bay. To get from Hoi An to Ninh Van Bay, you'll jump on an overnight sleeper bus – you'll get your own bed, and most buses even have WiFi.
Day 9 – Ninh Van bay
Wake up in Ninh Van Bay – it's pure paradise! The hostel you'll be staying at is located amongst the beautiful rolling hills of Vietnam's countryside, nestled in the valleys a stone's throw away from the beach.
After breakfast, the day is yours to do what you wish but be sure to meet your guide in the afternoon to explore the surrounding areas with a trekking trip! Otherwise, relax by the pool, challenge your group to a game of beach volleyball, unwind with a movie in the outdoor cinema, pamper yourself at the spa or take to the water in a kayak.
Day 10-11 – Da Lat
The central city of the Vietnam highlands is famous for its cool temperatures and stunning waterfalls. On your first day, you'll explore Da Lat town and on the second day, spark your adrenaline levels by abseiling pounding waterfalls, sliding down canyons and jumping off cliffs! But, don't worry – you'll be safe with us!
Not such a daredevil? No worries, alternative day trips are available!
Day 12 – Ho Chi Minh City
Arrive in Vietnam's largest metropolitan city, where people are always on the move, and thousands of motorbikes ride the streets. Take in the culture, the buzzing energy and Ho Chi Minh City's nightlife on the last two days of the tour.
Day 13-14 – Ho Chi Minh City
You'll visit the Cu Chi Tunnels and learn about the Vietnam War, which is still a big topic in Vietnam today.
Tonight, it's time to say farewell to your new travel friends and reflect on an amazing two weeks in Vietnam!
Frequently Asked Questions
Whether you’re travelling solo or with a mate, you’ll meet like-minded travellers from all over the world on this Vietnam group tour. Group sizes vary with each tour; however the crew like to keep things fun yet personal, so you’ll be travelling with no more than 30 others.
Nobody wants a bowl of Pho, a bite of Banh Mi or a bite from a mosquito to ruin the trip of a lifetime, so plan ahead and get your vaccinations sorted before you make the trip.
This is a rough guide to vaccinations for Vietnam. Some of the vaccinations listed are generally taken care of during childhood so check with your GP to ensure you need the jabs!
- Hepatitis A and B – are separate diseases with a vaccination that can be taken together or separately. Both diseases are pretty awful, so tick this one off!
- Typhoid – highly recommended and transmitted by dodgy food or water.
- Tetanus, Pertussis & Diphtheria – It’s best to have an updated tetanus jab, and the others come along with the package.
- Measles, Mumps and Rubella – one of the childhood immunisations you might not need, so check your immunisation record with your GP.
- Flu – get a flu shot if you think it’s necessary, or ask your doctor for more information.
- Malaria – inland Vietnam has malaria whilst the coast doesn’t.
There are a couple more that can be recommended but aren’t essential, so again – check with your GP! Ideally, you should organise all this plus a trip to your GP 6 to 8 weeks before your departure. Some vaccinations need two or more shots.
If you are looking into our Ultimate Vietnam trip, then this should point you in the right direction on how to get a visa for travel in Vietnam. It is your responsibility to obtain the correct Visa to enter the country.
There are 3 options to obtain your visa:
- Option 1: Apply in person or via post at your nearest embassy – it means less hassle when arriving in Vietnam, but more expensive.
- Option 2: Get a visa on arrival, which requires a visa invitation letter issued by an authorised agent before you leave home – it seems a little easier and is also cheaper, but you’ll need to queue up when landing to actually have your visa issued.
- Option 3: Apply for an E-Visa online – this is only available to certain nationalities and does not permit you to enter Vietnam through all entry points, only selected ones.
Generally, no visa is required for travel to Vietnam lasting up to 15 days only if you are from one of the following countries: the UK, France, Spain, Germany and Italy (though it's your responsibility to confirm this before you travel).
This Vietnam tour kicks off in Hanoi, and after experiencing Halong Bay on an overnight boat, you'll make your way to Ho Chi Minh via Hoi An and Da Lat. The tour uses a mix of centrally located hostels and hotel partners throughout Vietnam to ensure an authentic and comfortable travel experience.
